This is my personal space, with links to various things I'm writing and so forth.
In addition to my work on semantics, I manage to spend a small amount of time developing a number of innovative product ideas, and writing short stories and the like. This page gives some links to work in progress.
I have been working on an anthology of short stories. The first couple of stories are being released here as they come out. Later they will be in an anthology that's nearly done. There is also a short novel in draft, with the title "Josh Actually: The Man who Shot Jesus".
I wrote a couple of papers some years back setting out an alternative approach to construction and engineering which may be applicable in developing country scenarios. Please click through for more information on these ideas.
I am a Humanist and a Secularist. As a Humanist I believe that morals and ethics come from within the human experience, while as a Secularist I believe that religions should not have official privilege or special position in the workings of the state.
Here is a thing I wrote many years ago on the subject of dreams, magic and miracles.
Beyond humanism, I believe there is something within the human experience which is closer to what we sometimes mean by "spiritual" than anything we see in religious belief systems, and that in fact those belief systems act as a form of poison to prevent us finding whatever our true way is. I do not believe that it requires any imaginary beings, or any separate, neo-Platonist separate dimension of "Spirit" for this, rather it emerges from the single physical world we see. The way the world is, and the things that arise out of that world, are far more inspiring and magical than the crass, simplifying "explanations" put forward by the neo-platonist religions (that's the big three).
